Unlike tests that validate a design, verify functionality, or ensure standards compliance, CFT focuses on testing end-to-end scenarios, detecting issues that can negatively impact the Customer Experience and adversely affect customer perception of quality.
CFT provides numerous benefits, including:
Anyone who wants to optimize the Customer Experience of their products, from inventors and entrepreneurs to major corporations, can realize benefits from customer focused testing.
Customer Focused Functional (CFF) Testing
CFF Testing exposes products to a wide variety of human-interaction use cases. CFF Testing identifies product issues resulting from sequences of events as opposed to high volumes of a single event. It has the highest probability of finding nuisance and intermittent issues. CFF Testing can utilize a part of a product or the entire product to perform tests of functionality. CFF Testing can also include validation of product documentation, such as installation instructions and user guides.
Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Testing
MVP Testing is very similar to CFF Testing and involves testing the functionality of any available part of the product that is testable via human interaction.
Alpha Testing
Alpha Testing is the first real-world installation and usage of prototype-level product. This test identifies issues resulting from actual user experience, including documentation, installation, configuration/setup, daily usage, and re-configuration.
Beta Testing
Beta Testing is a final field test of production-quality product prior to commercial release. It provides a complete overview of the true product experience gained by the end users through real-world use.
